Why Join?

Today, there are many resources that help Latinx students get to college, but since many of these students come from marginalized households, they may lack the knowledge and experience they need in order to navigate through college successfully.

CLCA aims to be the bridge between Undergraduate Latinx students and success before and after graduation. By meeting once a week and either listening to successful Latinx individuals or developing your skills through personal development workshops, you will come out of CLCA more prepared and more knowledgeable than you would've been if you hadn't.

Additionally, the leadership experiences through our committee program as well as the relationships you build through our socials and familia program are incomparable when looking at other activities and programs.

Our membership application for Fall Quarter 2021 is now CLOSED. The application will open again Winter Quarter 2022! Prospective members can contact us to be notified when our application is reopened and follow us on our social media accounts to be kept in the loop!

Activity Structure

Guest Speakers
Guest Speakers

We want to show our members what a successful professional Latino looks like so we will invite individuals from different fields throughout the year to come and talk to our members about how they got to where they are at today and hopefully offer advice and helpful tips on what we can do achieve greatness. this will also allow members to learn about the potential professions they might be interested in.

Meeting Workshops

For a large majority of the meetings we will host workshops on topics that help the individual develop as a person. For example, we will be tackling things like "What to do after your undergrad?" "how to write a good resume?" "How to choose a major?" and more. We will also bring people from different departments such as the Internship and Career Center, The Educational Opportunity Program, and more to offer workshops as well. You may also submit potential workshop ideas for future meetings.

Committee Program

CLCA strives to help our members gain experience and knowledge in areas such as leadership, organization, and more. Therefore, we have our committee program that members can sign up for which allows them to work in a team with our board members to learn and see what it takes to plan such a complex organization and its events. An application will be needed and strong dedication is desired, but it is still a great way to get involved and also build your resume as well.

Social Development Activities
Familia Program

This is one of the biggest programs we organize as CLCA. It is a voluntary program where members can sign up to be apart of the familia. Each familia will be lead by a board member who will plan familia hangout, cookouts, study sessions, dates with other familias, and more. It is an opportunity to get to know the people in the club on another level while also provided a good community you can ask questions, plan things with, and more. We highly encourage our members to join the program, but it is not required.

Social Events

Our head of social development is constantly planning fun events for our members to get involved in. For example, Hispanic speakers on campus, Folklorico performances, CLCA Hikes, pumpkin patch trips, and more. These events are meant to provide a nice little excursion or hang out for our members throughout the quarter. We are aware that our members are hardworking students and these leisure outlets will provide a great stress reliever for them when the quarter progresses.

Club Exchanges

There are many organizations on campus that Hispanic oriented and we really strive as an organization to build the larger Hispanic community in Davis. Once again this will take form as social events such as going ice skating with another organization, participating in their social events, or collaborating in one way or another. its a great networking opportunity and also a great way to make new friends as well.
